Monday Essentials: Labor Day, Back to School in SK and More

Today is Monday, Sept. 2, 2013 and here are five things to know about the week ahead.

Happy Labor Day! No need for a "case of the Mondays" today! We here at Patch hope you all get to enjoy a relaxing Labor Day with friends and family before preparing for another Rhody fall. Click here to view a list of Narragansett and South Kingstown businesses and offices closed for Labor Day.

Back to School! All students of South Kingstown Public Schools will begin the 2013-2014 school year on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Click here to view district bus schedules. Welcome back! 

Ballroom Dance Lessons: On Wednesday evenings year-round, The Towers in Narragansett offers ballroom dance lessons led by instructors Sara Barker and Sue Davis. Ballroom lessons are held at 6 and 7 p.m., Tango at 8 p.m., followed by an open practice for all from 9-10:30 p.m. Cost is $15 per person for Ballroom or Tango, or $22 per person for a full evening. First Friday Coffee: Join members of the South County Chamber of Commerce on Friday, Sept. 6 at 8 a.m. for First Friday Coffee hosted by The Fayerweather Craft Guild (1859 Mooresfield Rd., Kingston). The Guild is dedicated to preserving old crafts and promoting new ones. They are open for their 46th season of craft demonstration and hands-on workshops. Be sure to bring plenty of business cards for networking!
