A 26-year-old Providence man is dead after a single car crash early Saturday morning near the South County Commons on Route 1.
South Kingstown Police said John Balzano, 26, of Providence, was a passenger in a car that struck a utility pole opposite the South County Commons at about 12:50 a.m.
Balzano, who was heading north, was ejected from the car.
He was transported to South County Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver, who police did not identify, was not seriously injured.
Police continue to investigate the accident.
