Asphyxia, Blunt Force Trauma Caused Narragansett Woman's Death

A Narragansett man is accused of choking and beating his mother to death.

 

Asphyxiation and blunt force trauma caused the death of a 65-year-old Narragansett woman, injuries allegedly inflicted by her son.

The state Department of Health determined the cause of death in the murder of Allison M. Taylor last week, reports the Narragansett Times.

The victim's son, Robert Taylor, 45, of 130 Caswell St., Narragansett, was arrested in connection with the murder of his mother after police discovered a severed head and other dismembered parts of her severed body in the dumpster of an apartment complex in Narragansett. Police received a warrant to search the dumpster and an apartment following an investigation that was spurred by a larceny complaint over the weekend, according to a Narragansett Police press release. The investigation led police to Taylor and his apartment at 130 Caswell Street on Tuesday, May 7, where police said officers immediately noticed signs of foul play.

Taylor was arrested and charged with murder with a domestic violence modifier that day.

According to the Rhode Island Judiciary, Taylor has a lengthy criminal history. He reportedly pleaded to Narragansett and Providence police charges of trespassing, and breaking and entering in 2006, 2007 and 2010, serving about four stints ranging from 30 to 90 days. Substance abuse counseling has also been a part of various pleas. He was also on probation following a 2007 breaking and entering charge in Providence.

Taylor is being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston until. Taylor’s bail violation hearing will be on July 22, according to court records.
Taylor’s bail hearing regarding the charge of domestic murder was also continued to July 22.
