Narragansett Town Manager Pamela Nolan called the event a "riot."

Eighteen University of Rhode Island students were arrested during a huge party on Greene Lane Saturday.

More than 1,000 students reportedly attended the party. Some threw beer bottles at each other, while one person ripped out a mailbox and tossed it in the air.

NBC 10 reported Narragansett Town Manager Pamela Nolan called the party a "riot."

URI Dean of Student Affairs Thomas Dougan said it was "intolerable."

"We're going to take action against individuals who we're able to identify who violating policy or laws," he told WHDH/7News.
