Supernatural RI Encounters at Kingston Free Library Tonight (and 4 More Things)

    'Invisible World' at Kingston Library: At 7 p.m. this evening, the Kingston Free Library, located at 2605 Kingstown Rd,. Kingston, will host a free spooky presentation by Dr. Michael Bell entitled, "The Invisible World: Supernatural Encounters in Rhode Island" Dr. Bell, author of Food for the Dead and local folklorist will discuss historical and contemporary accounts of supernatural encounters in Rhode Island.

    Walk-A-While Wednesday: From 12-1 p.m. today and each Wednesday through Dec. 4, URI's College of Human Science and Services in partnership with the Dept. of Kinesiology will host "Walk-a-While on Wednesdays".The new health initiative will be led by Kinesiology walking coaches who will guide participants through various mapped paths each session. The names of people who participate in at least eight sessions will be entered in a raffle for a free pair of sneakers from Feet First Quality Footwear.

    URI Sleep Clinic: From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., URI Health Services will sponsor a Wellness Clinic all about sleeping. Are you sleep deprived? Stop by the clinic in URI's Memorial Union (50 Lower College Rd., Kingston) to learn ways to improve your sleep habits.

    Ballroom Dance Lessons: Tonight and each Wednesday evening year-round, The Towers in Narragansett offers ballroom dance lessons led by instructors Sara Barker and Sue Davis. Ballroom lessons are held at 6 and 7 p.m., Tango at 8 p.m., followed by an open practice for all from 9-10:30 p.m. Cost is $15 per person for Ballroom or Tango, or $22 per person for a full evening. Click here for more information.

    SK Town Notice: The second quarterly installment of taxes assessed Dec. 31, 2012, is payable on or before Nov. 1, 2013. Interest will be charged from Aug. 1, 2013, if payment is not made when due. Mail payments to: Tax Collector, 180 High Street, Wakefield, RI 02879. Be sure to include your quarterly stub with your payment.
