You've got it Lyn! It's been too "close to home" in my own family. We're hands on parents in every sense of the way, but there are a myriad of factors that we can't control, chemical imbalance being one of them. Sadly, shame seems to be a part of the problem. There cannot be any shame if you have a child who is depressed. We need to keep talking, find ways to reach these kids--no matter if it's our own child or someone else's...............schools need to have EYES WIDE OPEN.....we don't want to lose another child like we just did last month to suicide.

Govstench..............that is an EXCELLENT observation! This article is meant as a forum to open the door for much more attention to this very serious problem that is not going away---it is only gaining momentum! Much more needs to be done....and yes....parental involvement is key.......but when that is not available for so many kids......what else can we do as a community to help? Thanks for responding. :)

ReplyLove it, Jackie! Most of us are in the same "Summer Lovin" boat! Next time one of my gang utters the "B" word........I'm going to hand them a paint roller and let them help me with my summer makeover---repainting the dining, living, entry way rooms...not to mention the inside of our two fireplaces! Keep the good times rollin!!! :)
