We're half way through the summer vacation, and I think I may finally have some answers to my kid's most frequently asked questions!
During the four-plus, very long (painfully long) months of baseball season, I jump out of bed each morning and start my day with a wee moment of silence in which I pray for three very simple things: Fields with running water (not porta-johns), no extra innings, and the presence of mind to facilitate the logistics of getting the right kid to the right field at the right time, regardless if we have to be at four games at once. This past season my prayers were answered many times over. The monsoon season we experienced meant lots of cancellations, therefore no traveling to other fields, no extra innings because of all the cancellations, and best of all, I managed to orchestrate a near-perfect delivery of landing my kids at the right field…

I completely admit that going to see "Magic Mike" was supposed to be more or less of a thrill, but it turns out I was wrong - it was even better and prompted a hopeful, rut-free summer!

We all have dreams - and after reading one of my son's reports on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I now have a new one!
My kids got out of school on Friday and no sooner did the bus roll out of the hood, their backpacks — heaping with everything they could possibly clean out of their lockers – came tumbling into the living room and landed on every possible open walking space all within 35 seconds. I twitched momentarily then gasped for breath knowing that they’re in my charge now for the next 10 weeks! As I sifted through piles of reports, essays, math packets and petrified food remains, I reminded myself that I’m not a newbie summer-vaca mom, and that every year the 10 weeks of summer gets a little longer, I mean, easier. I may be a S.O.B. (“Save only the Best” mom), but I treat the belongings of their last-day-of school treasures much differently than…
