Wakefield Man Brought Up On Charges For Break-Ins

Jett ordered held without bail after answering to eleven charges Thursday.

Allan Jett, the Wakefield man accused of robbing a Dunkin' Donuts in Narragansett, appeared in Fourth Division District Court on Thursday for additional burglary charges in South Kingstown. Jett, 54, was charged with nine South Kingstown counts, ranging from felony breaking and entering to misdemeanor vandalism. He entered no plea to three counts of felony breaking and entering and three counts of felony larceny in Fourth Division District Court and was held on $5,000 bail with surety. He pleaded not guilty to three misdemeanor counts of vandalism as well.  A pre-arraignment conference and felony screening has been scheduled for those infractions for Aug. 23. Rampaging Thief Breaks Into Matunuck Businesses Overnight

Police investigating; the bulk of the incident's cost so far is damage to the establishments.

South Kingstown Police are investigating a rash of destructive break-ins in Matunuck that reportedly occurred Wednesday night or early Thursday morning according to local business owners. Police units were on scene on Matunuck Beach Road early Thursday morning at three establishments: the Seaview Marketplace, the Matunuck Surf Shop, and Just D's restaurant.  According to Seaview market owner Pat Saber, the thief or theives hurled a rock through the glass front door of the establishment, which eventually landed in the aisles. Once inside, the culprit(s) broke into three cash registers and took an undisclosed amount of cash. The culprit(s) also paid a visit to the strip mall just south of the Seaview Market, allegedly making entry through …
