Felony Assault Plea Over Irish, Scottish Debate

Kyle Andrews, 33, is ordered to serve eight years probation after pleading to punching a man in the face.

Andrews, 33, now of San Antonio, TX, and formerly of 215 Silver Lake Ave., South Kingstown, pleaded no contest on April 15 to a South Kingstown police charge of felony assault. Andrews was ordered to serve eight years probation and an eight-year suspended sentence, and to pay $550 in assessments. A no-contact order is in place between Andrews and the victim for about 10 years. Andrews was a member of the Army at the time of his arrest. Probation Ordered in Knife Case

James Hammar, 40, is ordered to surrender a knife and to serve a year of probation after pleading no contest in Superior Court.

Unless otherwise noted, files at Washington County Superior Court contain the information about the following court cases. You can review them at the McGrath Judicial Complex. James Hammar, 40, of 80 Samuel Rodman St., South Kingstown, pleaded no contest on March 28 to charges of trespassing and possession of a weapon other than a firearm. Hammar was ordered to serve a year of probation and a year-long suspended sentence, to pay $180 in assessments and to surrender the knife as part of his plea bargain. An additional charge of domestic disorderly conduct was dismissed, and the trespassing charge downgraded from a felony, in return for Hammar’s plea. Man Sentenced to Probation For 28th Arrest

Harold Weeden, 47, pleads no contest to a crack cocaine possession charge in February, his 28th court case.

Harold Weeden, 47, of 188A High St., South Kingstown, pleaded no contest on Feb. 20 to a South Kingstown police charge of felony drug possession of crack cocaine. Weeden was ordered to serve an 18-month suspended sentence and 18 months of probation, to complete substance abuse counseling and to pay $788 in assessments. According to South Kingstown police reports included in court files, police initially arrested Weeden after hours at Old Mountain Field in July 2011. Richmond Man Indicted in Fatal SK Crash

James Mulcahey, 47, has been indicted on charges of drunken driving and driving to endanger, both with modifiers of death resulting.

A Carolina man will face felony charges of drunken driving with death resulting and driving to endanger with death resulting after he was indicted by the Washington County Grand Jury on Friday afternoon. Staff from the office of Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin released the grand jury report today for James Mulcahey, 47, of 13 Debra Drive, Carolina. This portion of Carolina is in Richmond. According to the AG’s statement, it is alleged that on Aug. 30, Mulcahey, while driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, caused the death of another driver.  Arraignment at Washington County Superior Court is scheduled for May 15. Drug Case Filed Against Narragansett Man

Felony drug charges are downgraded to misdemeanors in return for a not guilty filing against Leonard Brandon, 22.

A not guilty filing to a Narragansett police charge of possession of marijuana against Leonard Brandon, 22, of 26 Thayer Ave., Narragansett, was accepted on Feb. 19 at Washington County Superior Court.
