SK Native A Rhode Show Finalist

Cassandra Albergaria, who works at Coleman Realtors in East Greenwich, is one of five contestants in The Rhode Show competition for next year's host.

Cassandra Albergaria positively exudes enthusiasm. It's paid off in her quest to be the next host for The Rhode Show. One of five finalists, Albergaria will find out Monday, Dec. 10, if she gets the nod.  Albergaria, born and raised in South Kingstown and a graduate of the Prout School, lives in Cranston. But she works at Coleman Realtors in East Greenwich and we met last Thursday at the Holiday Stroll. Albergaria was canvassing many of the shops on Main Street to tell them about The Rhode Show contest and to encourage them to vote for her. "I love just popping into all the stores on Main Street," she said Monday.  It's a big week for Albergaria. On Thursday she co-hosts the show, complete with an ear piece and teleprompter. Sorority Board Member Charged With Embezzlement

Rhode Island State Police have charged Tanya McGinn Paolo, 40, with embezzling about $160,000 from URI’s Alpha Phi.

According to a press release from the Rhode Island State Police, a Massachusetts woman has been arrested and charged with embezzling from a University of Rhode Island sorority. On Oct. 17, police announced that they arrested Tanya McGinn Paolo, 40, of 22 Anthony Circle, North Attleboro, MA, for embezzling $165,842 from the URI Iota Delta House Sorority – commonly known as Alpha Phi – while serving as president of the its corporation board from 2003 to 2009. Paolo was also charged with obtaining money under false pretenses, greater than $1,500. Both charges are felonies. Police said Paolo was arraigned in Washington County Superior Court and released on $5,000 personal recognizance. She is due back in court on Oct. 29 for a determination of…

Drunk Driver From Fatal '04 Crash Heading Back to Jail

Charged with drunken driving following a crash that killed a classmate in 2004, Patrick Hannon is heading back to jail.

A man charged with drunken driving in a crash that killed a Jamestown teenager in 2004 is heading back to jail on yet another DUI charge, according to WPRI. Patrick Hannon, 28, was sentenced to five years in prison on Thursday. In February, South Kingstown police pulled Hannon over after seeing his car swerving and speeding. His blood alcohol level was reportedly .133 following a Breathalyzer test. Eight years prior, Hannon (then 20 years old) was again behind the wheel when his car crashed on Route 1 south of the Route 1/Route 4 junction. His passenger Maegan Harpool, a classmate at North Kingstown High School, was not wearing a seatbelt when the car struck a tree. Harpool was thrown from the vehicle and killed in the January 2004 crash. …
