Every community has a hidden gem in their own backyard just waiting to be discovered. Here in beautiful Narragansett we are surrounded with the picturesque landscape of incredible beaches, charming seaside parks, historical landmarks, and the warmth of a close-knit community. Our school system is small, therefore making it possible for a real “hometown” feel when it comes to the support of our academics, sporting events, and other extra-curricular activities where we all come together to rally our youth and students in these various areas. Students all have their own niche when it comes to finding their comfort zones and seeking out a place in the community that makes them shine. For many, that avenue is sports, but for many others, it’s…

The Narragansett Pier Middle School offers a cutting-edge enrichment program to students, headed by teacher Vanessa Miller.
The Narragansett Pier Middle School offers students a well-rounded curriculum of English-Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies as well as a broad range of Specials such as art, foreign language, music and much more. In addition, NPS also provides a cutting edge program to their students — Enrichment. According to owner and chef Guy Scott Shaffer, it was one thing to get a full commercial kitchen going in a truck, but hey, he made it work. The tougher thing? Naming his new business. That’s where the Pier School came in. Evan McGreen, a member of Vanessa Miller’s seventh grade enrichment class at the Pier School, provided Shaffer with the winning name – FanCheezical. (In the group photo, he’s in the back row, with the black jacket unzipped under the “CH.”) Shaffer said his truck is in its fifth week of operation. For more information on the food truck, visit his website here.
