A man tells police that Stop and Shop employees stole his lobsters to pay for drugs.
Unless otherwise noted, information about the following incidents was supplied by the Narragansett Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction. Loud Party Broken Up on Baltimore Avenue At about 12:38 a.m. on Dec. 12, police received a report of a loud party at 85 Baltimore Avenue. According to police, about eight to 10 people were talking loud on an east-facing deck, with an additional 25 to 35 people inside the home. Police said about six cars were illegally parked on the road, making it one-lane only. The tenants were identified as Justin J. Cardoza, 22, and Salman A. Parvez and Courtney Margossian, 21. Release courtesy of Rhode Island Lottery. Michael Desilets of Wakefield was equally excited when he cashed in a winning $21,000 "Blackjack Tripler" Instant Ticket. Michael plans to pay off bills, put some in retirement and the rest towards his wedding in Jamaica. He purchased the winning ticket at Stop & Shop at 91 Point Judith Road in Narragansett. Ruth Foster of Chepachet had a wonderful start to her week. She cashed in a winning $35,000 "Royal Riches" Instant Ticket at Rhode Island Lottery Headquarters this morning. Ruth said she already has a lot of plans on how she'll spend it, but will first let it sit in the bank for a while. She purchased the winning ticket at Country Farms at 1200 Putnam Pike in Chepachet.

The Rhode Island Department of Health (HEALTH) advises consumers that they should not eat Calico Bean Salad purchased from the salad bar at Stop & Shop Supermarkets between July 18 and 26, 2012. Stop & Shop has voluntarily recalled the product, following a recall by Costa Fruit & Produce, because it may potentially be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Consumers who purchased Calico Bean Salad from Stop & Shop during this time period should discard any unused product and bring their purchase receipt to the Stop & Shop store from which the product was purchased for a full refund. On March 10, Girl Scouts from South Kingstown and Narragansett gathered at St. Francis Church in Wakefield to celebrate the Girl Scout Centennial. Girl Scouts of all age levels enjoyed this Centennial Patch workshop, which began with a panel of Girl Scout alumnae sharing their experiences. The day concluded with a fashion show of Girl Scouts modeling uniforms from the past and a hootenanny, in which the scouts, volunteers, parents, and alumnae sang favorite camp songs together. A new school year brings more local funding, an easy way for parents to help schools, and a new program for kids. Last year, the program raised $1,953.38 for Narragansett schools.

As many schools begin their fall session this week, the new school year also marks the return of the A+ School Rewards Program – an easy way for schools to earn money. Since the program was launched in 2009 by The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC, more than $1.5 million has been donated to local schools grades K through 12 to help subsidize their operating budgets. This year Stop & Shop has increased its contribution to help fund schools with a commitment of $2.5 million. According to Stop and Shop officials, Narragansett schools received $1,953.38 last year.
