From Aquidneck Island to South County to the northwest corner of the state, Rhode Islanders now have six winter farmers’ markets available where they can purchase a wide variety of locally-grown and produced products for the holiday season. Aquidneck Island Farmers Market Last weekend, the Aquidneck Growers’ Market opened for the first time in St. Mary Church hall on East Main Road in Portsmouth. Shoppers turned out in huge crowds for opening day. The Aquidneck Growers’ Market is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through May 11. An alleged drunken driver from Charlestown is arrested with guns in his car, an SK man is arrested for possession of heroin, and another local man is charged with four counts of theft.

Lachappelle, 67, of 76 Biscuit City Road, Charlestown, was arrested on May 20 at 5:50 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence, first offense, BAC unknown, refusal to submit to a chemical test, and carrying a weapon while intoxicated. According to reports, Lachappelle was stopped near Ministerial Road for erratic driving and suspicion of drunken driving. After he failed preliminary sobriety tests and was asked to exit his Ford Escape, police said they noted an empty gun holster around his hip. Lachappelle denied…

An ancient treasure map has turned up miraculously on your doorstep and it leads to a treasure chest hiding in your home! Great for parties or just a fun afternoon activity, send your children roaming around your house or backyard for some fun-filled treasure hunting adventures. Like a scavenger hunt, create clues that will send the treasure hunters from one hint to the next, eventually ending at the “buried” treasure! Have fun and be creative when writing your clues. Use riddles or rhymes, but don’t make them too hard for young children to figure out. Once you’ve created your clues, set up your landmarks for the treasure hunt.
