Former Hopkinton Officer Charged With Drunken Driving

A former Hopkinton police officer allegedly involved in a standoff in Cranston in July has now been charged with drunken driving in South Kingstown.

Unless otherwise noted, information about the following incidents was supplied by the South Kingstown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction. John Patton, 45, of 91 Wylie School Road, Voluntown, CT, was arrested at about 7:09 p.m. on Sept. 30 and charged with drunken driving and reckless driving, and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test. Police said Patton is an officer in the Hopkinton Police Department, although according to media reports in The Westerly Sun, Patton is now retired from the department. According to police, a witness observed Patton’s driving and provided them with a statement. SK Police Log: September 15, 2012

A former SK town councilor is charged with drunken driving by public servants, who are “the worst and a waste of tax dollars.”

Wakefield Man Charged With Drunken Driving Paul Tasich, 47, of 33 Eagle Nest Terrace, Wakefield, was arrested at about 1:43 a.m. on Sept. 15 and charged with drunken driving. According to police, an officer traveling on Main Street toward the Dale Carlia intersection noted a black Ford pick-up truck speeding and swerving. A traffic stop was made in the Casey’s parking lot. Police said that Tasich smelled strongly of alcohol and his skin was flushed red. That's an interesting point Jimmy. If you look him up on the RI court database nothing shows up at all. Not even this arrest. Of course everyone else listed in this article does show up as having a pending case. It must pay to know people in the right places.   more ›

SK Police Log: August 24, 2012

A Wakefield man is charged with his second DWI, and the New England Patriots lead to a stolen phone.

Wakefield Man Allegedly Defiant About Second DWI David A. Arundel, 32, of 44 Winter St., Wakefield, was arrested at about 12:53 a.m. on Aug. 24 and charged with drunken driving, second offense. He was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test. According to police, an officer monitoring traffic on Kingstown Road near Rhody Joe’s clocked a car driven by Arundel at 48 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone. South Kingstown police make three minor arrests, for shoplifting, reckless driving and a license violation.

South Kingstown Man Charged With Shoplifting David G. Stoll, 44, of 115 Macarthur Boulevard, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 12:15 p.m. on July 2 and charged with shoplifting. According to police, from security footage at Shaw’s they were able to identify Stoll. Police said when they found Stoll behind Patsy’s Package store, he admitted to taking lobsters and steamers from Shaw’s. Police said Stoll was arrested without incident. A North Kingstown woman can’t bluff her way past South Kingstown police.

North Kingstown Woman Charged With Receiving Stolen Goods, Reckless Driving Carolyn A. Morabit, 22, of 474 Gilbert Stuart Road, North Kingstown, was arrested at about 7:29 p.m. on June 24 and charged with receiving stolen goods worth less than $500 and reckless driving. According to police, two officers monitoring traffic on Route 1 near Bridgetown Road saw a car speeding in the breakdown lane. A South Kingstown man is arrested for drunken driving, and a driver is cited for multiple violations after not buckling in a 4-year-old.

South Kingstown Man Charged With Drunken Driving John A. Schneider, 49, of 10 Rose Circle, South Kingstown, was arrested at about 10:35 p.m. on June 22 and charged with drunken driving. According to police, they received a report of an erratic driver in a silver Toyota Corolla. Police found a car matching that description on Kingstown Road, and a traffic stop was made on Indian Run Road after the car was observed swerving.
