Baby Born After Route 4 Crash Dies; Memorial at URI Tonight

The baby born prematurely after the crash that ended up killing his mother, Sully Sanchez, was two weeks old.

The family of Sullynette Sanchez, the 23-year-old pregnant woman who was killed in a fatal accident on Route 4 two weeks ago, told NBC 10 on Tuesday the baby who was born after the crash has died. Two-week-old Daryel Sanchez died Tuesday morning at Women and Infants Hospital, family members said.  He was born by C-section at Kent Hospital after the Sept. 28 three-car crash that took his mother's life, then transferred to the intensive care unit at Women and Infants Hospital. Sully Sanchez was driving on Route 4 in East Greenwich near Frenchtown Road when her SUV was rear-ended. In turn, her car rear-ended a third car. 'Good Samaritans' In Route 4 Fatal Accident Surface

The man and woman who performed CPR on the pregnant Sullynette Sanchez are Peter Bellone of New Jersey and his daughter Amanda Bellone.

Two good Samaritans who gave CPR to 23-year-old Sullynette Sanchez on Friday, Sept. 28, after an accident on Route 4 in East Greenwich, have come forward. Sanchez later died at Kent Hospital. She had been seven months pregnant at the time of the accident. Her baby – a boy – was delivered at Kent Hospital and transferred to the intensive care unit at Women and Infants. According to social media reports, he is stable. “If they were there that quick, before first responders,” said State Police Captain Frank Castellone according to a story on WPRI.com. “We would be interested in interviewing them to see if they witnessed anything prior to witnessing the crash." Pregnant URI Employee Dies in Rt. 4 Accident; Baby Survives

Sullynette Sanchez, 23, was nine months pregnant. Her baby was delivered and taken to Women and Infants.

According to state police, a Providence woman was killed in a three-car accident on Route 4 north, just south of the Route 403-Frenchtown Road overpass, Friday at about 4 p.m. The woman, Sullynette Sanchez, 23, of Providence, was nine months pregnant. She was pronounced dead at Kent County Hospital. Her baby was delivered at the scene and taken to Women and Infants, according to State Police Lieutenant Michael Gill. According to EG Fire Chief Peter Henrikson, the rescue call came in at 4 p.m. When the rescue arrived at the scene six minutes later, a bystander was performing CPR on the Sanchez. Rescue took over and got Sanchez to Kent by 4:22 p.m., said Henrikson. "I think the rapid transport is what hopefully saved the child’s life," he …
