Adventure Mom: Head to Narragansett and Beyond

Rhode Island is called the Ocean State for good reason. This small state has miles of beautiful beaches and plenty to keep families entertained.

EDITOR’S NOTE: This column originally ran on the Morris Township and Morris Plains Patch, which is allegedly in New Jersey. (It’s more than an hour away, so honestly, I have no clue.) However, I thought it would be interesting for everyone to see an outsider’s perspective on Narragansett, hence why it is reproduced here. Summer's Here And the Time Is Right For... Doing These Things!

A personal list of things people should do at least once in the summertime in South County.

When it comes to summertime in Narragansett, it can be both the best and worst thing for a local. For one thing, your town is basically put on its seasonal pedestal of THE go-to place for anything relating to fun or food. For a dope like myself, I like when I end up seeing Narragansett mentioned in anything. For crying out loud, when I watched the Coneheads movie, I gleefully giggled when they put down Prymaat (Jane Curtin’s character) as being from Narragansett. So basically, I kind of like it when our town gets a little recognition. On the other side, there’s everybody’s favorite inconvenience for fun: tourists. Tourists are mostly well-meaning folks who just want to have fun. Not all of them are bad and some of them who do dumb things …
