Narragansett Police Log: January 31 and February 1, 2013

Police cite four, all for various alcohol-related offenses.

Unless otherwise noted, information about the following incidents was supplied by the Narragansett Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction. Alcohol Violations - Brian K. Towne, 20, of 2 Kathy St., Narragansett, was cited at about 9:03 p.m. on Jan. 31 and charged with transportation of alcohol by a minor. Police said Towne is a student at the University of Rhode Island. According to police, an officer traveling behind a black Honda Accord on Point Judith Road near Cumberland Farms noted that it had a defective brake light. A traffic stop was made on Durkin Drive. Police said when they asked Towne if he had any beer in the car, he told police that his passenger had a 12-pack of Bud Light Platinum in the trunk. Police …

Narragansett Police Log: January 3 and 4, 2013

Police seize a fake ID before a woman says she got a chance to use it.

URI Student Charged With Possession of Marijuana, Driving Violations Michael Andrew Regan, 20, of 5 Springbrook Road, Narragansett, was arrested at about 3:08 a.m. on Jan. 4 and charged with possession of marijuana. Police said Regan is a student at the University of Rhode Island. According to police, an officer clocked a car driven by Regan at 44 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone on Bonnet Shores Road. A traffic stop was made on Springbrook Road as a result. Police said that when speaking to Regan, he and the interior of the car smelled strongly of marijuana. Police also …

Narragansett Police Log: April 11 and 12, 2012

A Narragansett man racks up more assault warrants, and police deal with URI students and fake IDs.

Narragansett Man Arrested for Assault Charges Again Scott F. Verrecchia, 27, of 121 Winterberry Road, Narragansett, was arrested at about 7:46 p.m. on April 11. According to police, they received an anonymous tip that Verrecchia was visiting a family member’s home. When they arrived at the home, he was arrested without incident. Police said Verrecchia had two warrants out for his arrest, one from their department for charges on April 5, and one from Central Falls Police for an assault case there on April 9. He could not come up with bail money, and he was transported to the ACI. …

Narragansett Police Log: March 29 and 30, 2012

Police deal with six separate incidents involving University of Rhode Island student.

Police Have Trouble With Loud Party on Mettatuxet Road At about 11:59 p.m. on March 30, police received a report of a loud party at 166 Mettatuxet Road. According to police, about 60 to 75 people were at the home, with a heavy amount of litter, beer cans and beer bottles in the bushes at and near the property. Police said the tenants were not cooperative in clearing the house, and tried to hide people in the basement. An East Greenwich resident is charged with obstruction, and several are cited for driving violations.

East Greenwich Man, CCRI Student Arrested, Charged With Obstruction Shane Gerrit Hulstyn, 19, of 95 Rector St., East Greenwich, was arrested at about 6:46 a.m. on March 10 and charged with obstruction. Police said he is a student at the Community College of Rhode Island. According to police, at about 6:15 a.m. they received a report of a man struck in the head with a bottle on Clara Lane. Police charge a college student with drunken driving after a traffic stop caused by her driving on a blown-out tire.

URI Student Charged With DWI – Front Tire Blown Out Alexandra Joester, 21, of 101 Allagash Trail, Narragansett, was arrested at about 1:42 a.m. on March 1 and charged with driving while intoxicated and cited for refusal to submit to a chemical test. Police said Joester is a student at the University of Rhode Island.
