DUI Arrest Made by Police

Police charged a RIC student with drunken driving, and cite several others for alcohol violations. Narragansett police logs from April 27, 2013.

West, 21, of 99 Isabella Ave., Providence, was arrested at about 2:57 a.m. on April 27 and charged with drunken driving, and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test. Police said West is a student at Rhode Island College. According to police, an officer monitoring traffic noticed a silver Honda making a wide turn from Burnside Avenue to Point Judith Road. Police said that after the vehicle continued to swerve and accelerate to 75 miles per hour on Point Judith Road, a traffic stop was made near Jerry’s Paint and Hardware. Police said …

Parties Broken Up, And Alcohol Citations

In a three-day span, Narragansett police break-up multiple parties and issue citations for alcohol and driving violations. Narragansett police logs from April 12, April 13 and April 14, 2013.

Arrest, Multiple Citations Issued for Parties on Middle Road, Sakonnet Boulevard At about 8:57 a.m. on April 14, an officer on patrol noted an illegally parked car at 45 Middle Road. Police said that while the officer was taking down information on the car, he saw two women approaching from a home on Sakonnet Boulevard, which appeared to be hosting a loud party. According to police, a woman holding a bottle of Andre pink champagne – URI student Cara C. Saluppo, 19, of 797 Linden Way, Franklin Lakes, NJ – was cited for underage possession of alcohol after a background check. Police …

Four Students Cited for Minor Violations

Four College Students Cited for Minor Violations - Christopher Whatley, 20, of 285 Ocean Road, Narragansett, was cited at about 9:44 p.m. on April 4 and charged with transportation of alcohol by a minor. Police said Whatley is a student at the University of Rhode Island. According to police, an officer noted a grey Honda Civic swerving on Burnside Avenue, and also traveling at 44 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone. Valet Charged With Drunken Driving; Car Clocked at 83 in 30 Gary S. Dove, 22, of 14 Windcheck Pond Road, Hopkinton, was arrested at about 2:02 a.m. on March 29 and charged with drunken driving, and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test. Police noted that Dove works as a valet. According to police, an officer monitoring traffic from Jerry’s Hardware on Point Judith Road clocked a blue Volkswagen hatchback driven by Dove at 83 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone. Bresnahan, 24, of 39 Conch Road, Narragansett, was arrested at about 1:48 a.m. on March 8 and charged with drunken driving, and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test. According to police, an officer saw a car driven by Bresnahan accelerate quickly from a stop sign at Old Pine Road and Juniper Trail, screeching the tires in the process. Police said that while an officer was on patrol on Ocean Road, he noted about 50 people crossing the road on foot, despite the late hour. Police said that an employee of Spain’s flagged them down, and said partygoers were illegally parking in their lot. Cruz, 22, of 143 Third St., Newport, was arrested at about 2:02 a.m. on March 1 and charged with drunken driving with a blood alcohol level between .10 and .15. According to police, an officer traveling on Point Judith Road near Foddering Farm Road clocked a grey Volvo driven by Cruz at 15 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone.
