Don't Let Winter 'Break' You

You're going home but you're not sure what to do. I've got a few ideas of how to spend the month-long hiatus between semesters.

For my final column of the fall semester, don’t you think it would be appropriate to talk about what we could be doing over winter break? I think so. In the month-long interim you can get much accomplished. Let’s dig in, shall we? 1. Work! One way to pass the time while at home is to either continue working with your current establishment or, if you are far from it like myself, resume your duties once you return. You are telling your supervisor you have not forgotten about your job and are still committed to it. Some spending cash on the side is a plus anyway, especially if you still need to pick out holiday gifts for the family. But you need not go crazy over working. I believe you should leave plenty of time aside to be with your friends…

Curse You, Finals!

Finals week is fast approaching. Don't be like a deer caught in the headlights. Figure out what you need to do to be ready.

Ouch. Did the time really go by that fast? We’re already in December? Well, that only means one thing: The dreaded finals week. Yes, it’s perfectly normal to be terrified, but let’s take a moment and run through some steps to get you through the Week of Hell in one piece. I will say this, to start off: Exam week in college is less stressful than in high school. In high school, you may have had two exams per day for four days. In college you may have one exam each day for five days or three on one day and two the next. I believe the college professors are more laid back when it comes to letting students know about finals. When it comes to high school, the entire school is practically advertising exam week, which can make it more stressful…
