Citizens Bank Gives Out Backpacks at YMCA

Citizens Bank distributes a slew of backpacks to local kids at the Broad Rock YMCA.

Citizens Bank colleagues recently distributed backpacks filled with new school supplies to campers at the South County YMCA as part of Citizens’ Gear for Grades program. Gear for Grades is a partnership with Back to School of Rhode Island, Coast to Coast Promotional Products and 92 PRO-FM. New school supplies were collected at Citizens Bank branches across Rhode Island, helping to relieve the burden of back-to-school shopping for local parents. Since 2003, Gear for Grades has provided more than 200,000 children with new backpacks and school supplies. In Rhode Island, the program has helped more than 46,000 children. This year, 15,000 Rhode Island students received backpacks.

Citizens Sponsors Youth Baseball Clinic at McCoy

The Pawtucket Red Sox baseball clinic for youngsters is 2 p.m. Saturday at McCoy Stadium.

Citizens Bank, in association with ABC 6 and the Pawtucket Red Sox, team up to bring free youth clinics to McCoy Stadium. Citizens Bank, PawSox manager Arnie Beyeler, coaches and several PawSox players will offer youngsters instructions and tips on the game of baseball. The popular clinics are conducted on the field at McCoy. Participating youth need to bring a glove to the clinic. Families are invited to remain at McCoy after the clinic for an autograph session. The event runs from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Pawtucket plays at 6:05 p.m. against the Buffalo Bison. Citizens Contributes $20,000 to Blessing of the Fleet

Members of the Lions Club and the Blessing of the Fleet accepted the contribution this past week.

Citizens Bank recently announced its $20,000 sponsorship of the upcoming Blessing of the Fleet weekend. The Blessing of the Fleet has been a South County tradition for 39 years. It kicks off on Friday, July 29 with a 10-mile road race and nearly 4,000 runners. The Seafood Festival runs from Friday to Saturday and the actual Blessing takes place at noon on Saturday, July 30 in the Port of Galilee. Release courtesy of Citizens Bank.
