Banner Raising for Pier Teams Wednesday

The Pier School will honor its track and cross country teams at halftime of the boys’ basketball game Wednesday.

Release courtesy of the Rinaldis and the Pier School listserv. A banner-raising has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 23 during halftime of the boys’ basketball game. The game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and the banners will be raised at about 4 p.m. We hope to see student athletes, family and friends to recognize the boys’ state championship for track and field and a Southern Division championship for cross country. ***** By the way, that Pier School boys’ basketball team is currently undefeated, with a 15-0 overall record and a 8-0 mark in Southern Division play. They will be hosting Chariho (3-7, 3-7 Southern Division).

Can You Really Trust Who's Supervising Your Kids?

How reliable are background checks and are they enough to warrant your trust?

In light of last week’s news of a Chariho High School soccer coach getting arrested for alleged possession of child pornography and the report of him having passed the background check required for the job, it made the members of the Parents Council ask the question “How thorough are background checks and are they enough?” Chances are if you have ever volunteered in your child’s classroom, been a Girl or Boy Scout Troop Leader, worked at a social service agency or been employed by a school or child care facility, you have had a background check done.
