Gusting Winds Lead to Delays, Ferry Cancellations
Service for the Block Island Ferry is suspended for Thursday, and local schools are delayed an hour, thanks to 65 mile per hour wind gusts.
Thanks to wind gusts of up to 65 miles per hour this morning, according to the National Weather Service, school districts in South County have delayed their start by one hour. The high wind warning is in effect until 10 a.m. The NWS estimates constant wind speeds of 25 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts up to 65, for all of Rhode Island and most of southern Massachusetts. As a result, Narragansett, South Kingstown, Chariho and Westerly have all delayed the start of classes today by one hour as of 7 a.m. To keep up with updates on these and other delays, check out the Rhode Island Broadcasters Association site here.
