Join the staff of the Rhode Island Rebels, the area’s elite travel baseball program, on Thursday, Aug. 16 at the Bomb Squad Baseball Company to learn about the full slate of baseball programs offered this fall. Eric Cirella, a veteran assistant baseball coach at the University of Rhode Island, has joined the staff of the Rhode Islands Rebels, the area’s elite AAU travel baseball program. The Rebels train out of the Bomb Squad Baseball Company in Wakefield. Cirella, 29, will serve as the head coach of the Rebels’ 17 and under college prospect team. He will also head the hitting and field instruction programs out of the Bomb Squad. “The Rhode Island Rebels is a prestigious baseball program. I am excited to be a part of such an elite organization that focuses on the development of college prospects,” Cirella said. Aspiring college athletes take note: An NCAA Recruiting Seminar open to parents and student-athletes will be held on March 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bomb Squad Baseball Company, 1174 Kingstown Road. The one-hour seminar is free of charge and will outline the college recruiting process. The seminar will serve to educate student-athletes and parents in an effort to better understand the complex world of college recruiting and will allow them to make knowledgeable decisions. The seminar will be led by Steve Breitbach, a former college player, coach and recruiting coordinator, who has extensive experience on both sides of the recruiting process. Children at the Boys & Girls Club of Providence got an early Christmas present Tuesday, thanks to a local company and the generosity of the community. The Bomb Squad Baseball Company of Wakefield, has been collecting new and used sports equipment for the last month to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence. On Tuesday, the local AAU Rebels baseball team joined Bomb Squad in delivering the equipment to the club.

There's still a few days remaining to donate gently used and new sports equipment for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence. Donations are being accepted at the Bomb Squad Baseball Company in Wakefield through Sunday, Dec. 18. “The donations are piling up, but we can still use more,” said the Bomb Squad’s Phil Davidson. “We’re asking everyone to make a difference in the lives of thousands of area youth this holiday season. This holiday season the Bomb Squad Baseball Company has teamed up with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence to collect gently used and new sports equipment for the kids who utilize the club. “Playing sports can make a big difference in a young person’s life,” said the Bomb Squad’s Phil Davidson. “But many families are experiencing tough times in this harsh economic climate and don’t have the funds to buy necessary items, let alone sports equipment.
