The all-volunteer department depends on its constituents to join and train to become active firefighters. The District also operates a resdiency program within their facility located on Bills Rd, nestled into the University itself.

Station 9 is home to the District's newest appuratus, a 2010 Pierce known as Engine 22. Station members also man Engine 24, a 2009 Smeal Tanker that operates as a rural hydrant and is part of the South County Tanker Task Force, delivering water to firegrounds when no hydrants are available.
