Founded in 1892 by Peace Dale's Rowland G. Hazard II, the Museum of Primitive Art and Culture is South County's oldest museum. The museum specializes in artwork and exhibits from the pre-industrial era. Some of the items on display include Eskimo kayaks, Native American blankets, Plains Indian apparel and primitive hand tools.
