What began as a commercial dock purchase has blossomed into a bustling restaurant with a wide variety of clients served, from hardy locals to some of New England's elite.

Owner and local shell fisherman Perry Raso's Matunuck Oyster Bar features an incredible local-friendly atmosphere. The restaurant is open year-round and has outdoor seating overlooking Potter's Pond during the warmer months.

Though the restaurant serves a variety of customers, there is no dress code and the atmosphere is casual. The restaurant does not accept reservations so come early and plan on staying awhile in their cocktail area. The restaurant sports a full bar to complement their food and raw bar selections.

Curious customers can watch as the staff shucks oysters and other shellfish on demand, take part in a tour of his oyster farm nearby or tie up their boats at the dock if they are adventurous enough to skip the parking lot.

This place is fabulous. I've eaten inside and out the last time being Saturday 26 Feb 11. We had a 40 min. wait and stood at the bar watching oysters being shucked. I enjoyed a perfectly made dirty martini while my friend had a beer. The estimated wait time was accurate and we were led to our table. Our waitress was great and Robin, the Maitre'd and former owner of Midtown Cafe, was polite and his usual charming self. The raw bar offerings are outstanding and fresher than fresh. I ordered the stuffed cod this time which was moist and served with basmati rice and haricot vert. I had enough left over for my 14 year old's dinner the next day. I've probably been there 8 times since they opened and never disappointed. The ceasar salad is great with home made dressing and home made croutons. I found myself there for lunch one Sunday a few weeks ago. We wanted a light lunch and shared the oyster sampler along with the ceasar. A nice bloody mary made the perfect compliment. I can't wait to go back and sit on the deck in the warm weather! No reservations but it's worth the wait!
