Rhode Islanders and visitors to South County have enjoyed Aunt Carrie's for generations. The restaurant has been owned and operated by the family of Ulysses and "Aunt" Carrie Cooper since they first opened it to serve clam cakes, chowder and lemonade in 1920. The building's original structure consisted of what is currently Aunt Carrie's counter area and front dining room. This BYOB restaurant is located near both Scarborough and Oakland Beaches, making it a perfect destination to top off a summer day spent frolicking in the sun and surf. The restaurant, which is open seasonally, has an extensive seafood menu, and also offers homemade desserts.

As soon as I get to Narragansett I head straight to Aunt Carrie's for a "dozen" (and that's all you need to ask for at the counter). Even though we're usually staying only a few minutes away that greasy bag is always at least two clamcakes lighter by the time I get back. Aunt Carrie's forever!

Totally disagree with the last post! Everything is always fresh and we had clamcakes last weekend with lots of clams! The fish breading in just that - not fish hidden in a huge amount of batter. Can't say enough about Aunt Carries!

This place hasn't been good in years. We still try it now and then and it's always disappointing. Needless too, when there is Iggy's right across the street which tastes much fresher and actually has clams in the clam cakes.
