The South County YMCA and F.I.R.M, the largest triathlon production company in the Northeast, have partnered to host the Y Not Tri-South County Sprint Triathlon on Sunday, Sept. 15.
The race will begin at 9 a.m. at Roger Wheeler State Beach, located at 100 Sand Hill Cove Road in Narragansett, and will consist of the following events:
The race begins with a rectangular .25 mile swim in the sheltered area of Sand Hill Cove.
The bike course consists of three 2.9-mile loops in and around the scenic port of Galilee.
Triathletes will be treated to a scenic run in the neighborhoods of Sand Hill Cove. The 3-mile run is out and back with very little traffic. Enjoy the sights as the course winds its way close to the ocean and through surrounding neighborhoods.
Fees are $70 per person or $80 per relay team prior to the event or an additional $10 for same-day registration.
The Y Not Tri-South County Sprint Triathlon is a special event that supports the YMCA Annual Support Campaign, which raises funds needed by YMCA branches to give back to the community through financial assistance. This is what allows the YMCA to be available to everyone - regardless of their ability to pay. Annual Support helps children attend out-of-school programs and camp, families maintain a healthy lifestyle, seniors face the challenges of aging and cancer survivors regain their strength.
