Your Guide: 'Stone Soup' Story, Buffet & Food Drive at Narragansett Library

Everything you need to know to enjoy a specific local weekend event!

Looking for something to do this weekend? How about warming your bones during the coldest part of the year with a variety of delicious soups, while helping support a great cause at the same time?

From noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, the Maury Loontjens (Narragansett Public) Library, located at 35 Kingstown Road in Narragansett, will host a "Stone Soup" Story, Buffet & Food Drive.

The afternoon will begin with a re-telling of the classic children's story, Stone Soup, a folk story in which hungry strangers persuade local people of a town to give them food. It is usually told as a lesson in cooperation, especially in times of famine or hardship.

Following the story, participants are invited to join a free soup buffet, featuring donations from local restaurants.

Guests of all ages are each asked to donate one non-perishable food or personal hygiene item as an admission fee, which will be distributed to local residents in need.
