This Weekend: Learning 401 Story Slam, 'Guts' at The Towers and More

Hope Valley Indoor Farmers' Market: From 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays through Apr. 19, the Richmond Community Center, located at 1168 Main Street in Wyoming (second floor of police station), will host the Hope Valley Indoor Winter Farmers' Market. Products include local produce, meat, fish, coffee, baked goods, jam, soap, Alpaca fiber and more. 

Stone Soup at Narragansett Library: This Saturday, Jan. 25 from 12 to 2 p.m., the Narragansett Public Library, (35 Kingstown Rd.) will host a Stone Soup Buffet, Story & Food Drive. The afternoon will begin with a re-telling of the classic children's story, Stone Soup, followed by a free soup buffet. Cultural Dancing & Dinner: From 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, The Towers in Narragansett will host the class, "Random Argentine Tango Milonga". Participants will enjoy a lesson with Martha and Pracha of Boston followed by practica and a pot luck dinner. Then from 8:30 p.m. to midnight dance the Milonga with DJ Sue. $15 for lesson; $10 for milonga; $20 entire night. Click here for more information.

Learning 401 Story Slam: From 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, The Contemporary Theater Company (327 Main Street, Wakefield) will host "Learning 401 Story Slam" - an open-mic night addressing the question "What's your most powerful learning story?" The free event is open to educators, students and all members of the Southern Rhode Island Community. Click here to learn more.

Scrabble Scramble: From 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, the Maury Loontjens Memorial Library, located at 35 Kingstown Road, Narragansett, will hold Scrabble Scramble - a place to find friendly Scrabble opponents. (Bring your board if you have one!)

Wakefield Jazz at The Contemporary: This and each Sunday from 2-5 p.m., The Contemporary Theater Company, located at 327 Main Street in Wakefield, will host "Wakefield Jazz Sessions". The weekly event invites local musicians to bring their instrument and jam with a house band and fellow jazz musicians. Cost is $5 per person. Click here to view the the event page on Facebook.

'Guts' Featuring Theodore Mook: on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m., The Towers in Narragansett will host "Guts: Old Music for Old Cellos", featuring Theodore Mook. The evening will include musical selections by Marin Marais, JS Bach, Vivaldi, and more, with cellists Theodore Mook, Steven Laven and harpsichordist Frederick Jodry.
