Monday Essentials: SK Town Council, Free Meditation Workshop and More

Today is Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 and here are some things to know about the week ahead.

SK Town Council: The South Kingstown Town Council will meet Monday at 7:30 in Council Chambers at SK Town Hall (180 High St., Wakefield). Click here to view the Jan. 13 agenda.

Toddler Dance Open Session: At 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, Kids Music Play, located in the back of Pow! Science! Toys at 160 Old Tower Hill Rd., South Kingstown, will host a free open session of the KMP Dancers group lessons that are offered at the center for ages 1 to 3 years old. Toddlers and caregivers will learn the five basic positions of dance as well as explore dancing to music. Prince, princess, pirate/ ballerina, tutus and non-movement restricting pretend play clothes are encouraged for this creative and fun class. Click here for complete details.

Gansett School Committee: At 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, the Narragansett School Committee will meet at Narragansett Town Hall (25 Fifth Ave.) Click here to view the meeting agenda.

Free Flu Clinic: The Town of South Kingstown and RI Dept. of Health have joined to bring a free community flu vaccination clinic to Broad Rock Middle School, located at 351 Broad Rock Road in Wakefield this Thursday. The clinic will run from 5-8 p.m. on Jan. 16. All clinics are open to anyone older than six months of age. There is no cost for a flu shot and there are no insurance requirements at the clinics. Free Meditation Workshop: Have you ever wanted to try meditation? You're in luck! From 3-4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, learn all about the ancient practice of mind-training during a free workshop led by Dr. Celina Pereira. The workshop is hosted by and will take place at the Narragansett Public Library, located at 35 Kingstown Road, Narragansett.
