Monday Essentials: Photo Submissions, Bobby Doyle Road Race and More

Town Council Agenda Items: The Narragansett Town Council will meet this evening (Aug. 5) at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall (25 Fifth Ave., Narragansett). Topics of discussions include the approval of multiple service contracts, a hearing on a CDBG grant application for Superstorm Sandy damage and more. Click here to view tonight's agenda.
Free Movie - Jack Reacher (PG-13): On Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 2-4 p.m. and again from 6-8 p.m., the Maury Loontjens Memorial Library (35 Kingstown Rd., Narragansett) will host a free showing of the this year's film, Jack Reacher, which tells the story of an ex-military investigator who leaps off the pages of Lee Child's bestselling novel and onto the big screen in this explosive thriller! (Starring Tom Cruise, Rosamund Pike and Richard Jenkins.) 
South County Photo Contest (Wednesday Deadline!): Share your favorite South County moments captured in time by entering your local photos in this year's Annual South County Photo Contest!  Be it of people, places, or events; of any season; of Charlestown, Coventry, E. Greenwich, Exeter, Hopkinton, Narragansett, N. Kingstown, Richmond, S. Kingstown, W. Greenwich, or Westerly - enter to win the 1st Place $1,000 cash prize, $500 second place cash prize, $250 third place cash prize or one of five Runner-Up $50 prizes! Bobby Doyle Road Race: Thursday, Aug. 8 is the deadline to register for the 6th Annual Bobby Doyle Classic 5K Road Race, scheduled for Aug. 11 at 9 a.m. (5K start time) and 10 a.m. (5-mile start time), beginning at Pier Middle School. Proceeds from the race will support the Bobby Doyle Scholarships and Youth Running Fund, which are devoted to enhancing and supporting high school and youth running in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Summer Concert at the Gazebo: Head down to Narragansett on Friday night for an evening of music in the gazebo with the B Sides who will entertain with hit songs from the 1950s through today! This free event at Casino Park starts at 6 p.m.
