Monday Essentials: Council, Committee, Creative Word and More

Today is Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, and here are some things to know about the week ahead.

Gansett Council Meeting: The Narragansett Town Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at Town Hall (25 Fifth Ave., Narragansett). Click here to view the meeting agenda. 

SK School Committee: At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, the South Kingstown School Committee will meet in the SKHS cafeteria at 215 Columbia St., Wakefield. Click here to view the meeting agenda.

Business After Hours: From 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, the Southern RI and Narragansett chambers of commerce will hold a joint business after hours networking event, hosted by George's of Galilee, located at 250 Sand Hill Cove Rd., Narragansett. $5 per person. Click here to register.

The Creative Word: This Thursday, Dec. 19 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Neighborhood Guild, the SK Parks & Recreation Dept. will host The Creative Word, a writing group that provides writers with a new idea prompt each week, along with supportive critique and discussion. Instructor Linda Langlois has a BA from URI in English and journalism and has published poetry and essays in newspapers and journals. $3 per person.

Star Gazing at Frosty Drew Observatory: This and every Friday night at 6 p.m., get star struck at the Frosty Drew Observatory's Public Stargazing Night (61 Park Ln., Charlestown). Be sure to subscribe to the Frost Drew Observatory mailing list or follow them on Twitter (@FrostyDrewOBSY) to receive status updates about the public stargazing program. This is a free event, however donations are greatly appreciated.
