Hank's Down South! Countdown to 2014!

DJ Nancy will be spinning jams all night at Hank's Down South Bar & BBQ, 33 State St., Narragansett. The New Year's Eve party kicks off at 7 p.m. and goes til 2014.

Wednesday, Jan. 1

Penguin Plunge for Special Olympics Rhode Island

What better way to ring in the new year than running into the freezing cold bay in the middle of winter?

The annual Polar Bear Plunge benefits the Special Olympics. It is scheduled for Roger Wheeler Beach in Narragansett at noon Wednesday. Registration starts at 10 a.m.

Winter at Canonchet Farm Guided Tour

Friends of Canonchet Farm Board member Kathie Kelleher will lead a guided walk to introduce photographers to the property on Jan. 1, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m. The event at the farm on Ann Hoxsie Lane in Narragansett is free and open to anyone, especially those interested in the Amateur Digital Photo Competition: "Winter At Canonchet Farm," which runs from Dec. 21 through March 20, 2014.
