Monday Essentials: Narragansett Council Meeting, No School Curtis Corner and More

Today is Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 and here are some things to know about the week ahead.

No School for Curtis Corner: According to the South Kingstown School Dept., there is no school at Curtis Corner Middle School on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014. All other South Kingstown schools will be in session.
Gansett Council Meeting: The Narragansett Town Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at Town Hall (25 Fifth Ave., Narragansett). At 8 p.m., a the Council will hold three continued public hearings will be held regarding land use, zoning and a liquor license. Click here to view tonight's agenda.

Kid's Instrument Lessons: At 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, Kids Music Play, located in the back of Pow! Science! Toys at 160 Old Tower Hill Rd., South Kingstown, will host a free open session of the children's musical instrument group lessons that are offered at the center for ages 3.5 and up. A second open session will be held at 4 p.m for school-aged children. Click here for complete details.

Teen Book Club: From 3:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Maury Loontjens Memorial Library, 35 Kingstown Rd., Narragansett, will hold its monthly Teen Book Club discussion, led by Anna Sherman. Copies of this month's book, Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi are available at the Children's Room desk.

Women's Networking: On Thursday, Jan. 9 at 8:45 a.m., the South Kingstown Chamber of Commerce, located at 230 Old Tower Hill Rd., Wakefield, will host a "Fresh Connections Women's Networking" event. The program helps women obtain their professional goals through a powerful network of support and provides a forum for building relationships and connections. Star Gazing at Frosty Drew Observatory: This and every Friday night at 6 p.m., get star struck at the Frosty Drew Observatory's Public Stargazing Night (61 Park Ln., Charlestown). Be sure to subscribe to the Frost Drew Observatory mailing list or follow them on Twitter (@FrostyDrewOBSY) to receive status updates about the public stargazing program. This is a free event, however donations are greatly appreciated.
