5 THINGS: Formal Beach Openings and Book Sales

Need a beach? Need a book? Need a book for the beach? You're in luck this weekend then.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Saturday, May 19, 2012:

Need to go for a swim and/or dedication? It is the formal opening weekend for , and . Also at 3 p.m. at Narragansett Town Beach, there will be a grand re-opening and dedication for the North Pavilion. There will be light refreshments and a guided tour.

Need to watch people running? The starts at 10 a.m., departing from the . If you’re competing though, registration and shuttles begin around 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Need to watch people walking? The Third Annual Turco Memorial Walk to End Polio is from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the bike path, near the Main Street intersection. For more info, click .

Need to ditch some stuff? There will be an from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Narragansett Town Beach. Bring your TVs, computers, monitors, florescent light bulbs and other items for safe disposal.

Need to buy books AND other stuff? The is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the . The library will also be holding a “” book sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. As the name implies, you can fill a bag with books for only $3.

Still need to buy more books? The is also , from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This isn’t Alaska or Texas, so you could probably make it to that and the Kingston one today, just as an FYI.
