Scarborough South Closed to Swimming

High bacteria counts detected in the waters off Scarborough State Beach South has prompted the state Department of Health to recommend the closure of the beach to swimming.

The health department announced the closure on Friday afternoon.

Officials will continue to monitor the water and will announce a change of status once tests show that bacteria levels have fallen below levels considered safe for human contact.
