5 THINGS: Yikes, What’s Going On Today?

Got something planned for Monday? Well, let us know!

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Monday, September 17, 2012:

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events beyond school sports today, given that it’s Constitution Day, and a day off for several districts. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).

And reading is just wild about them! The Wild About Reading program at the Kettle Pond Visitors Center in Charlestown focuses on a nature-based story for kids from age 3 to 6. The program is free, and runs from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

And speaking of the Kettle Pond Visitors Center… They’re also hosting the free Zentangle in Nature program from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. It’s an art program that’s all about relaxation via neat patterns and what not. The session is appropriate for any age past 10, including adults.

“There is no distinctly native American criminal class… save Congress.” – Mark Twain. Here are today’s government meetings:

  • The Narragansett Town Council is hosting a work session at town hall on the Middlebridge Road property at 6 p.m. The regular town council meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
  • The Narragansett Town Manager Search Committee is hosting a meeting in the small board room of town hall at about 6:30 p.m.
  • The South Kingstown Historic District Commission meets at 7 p.m. in the conference room of town hall.
  • The South Kingstown Recreation Commission meets at 7 p.m. at the Neighborhood Guild.

Sign up for our daily newsletter! Hey, I realize we have a lot of neat features and knick-knacks on the site, so it can be confusing to keep up with it all. Want just one simple, easy to read daily digest? Sign up for our e-mail newsletter here then. It comes out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. roughly, every single day of the week. Amazing, I know!

Luckily though, I’ve since been able to secure new production lines for my monocles. On this day last year, the Occupy Wall Street movement began, uh, occupying in Zucotti Park in New York City.

Hopefully you’ve removed the fork from your back since that fourth quarter collapse while a member of the Celtics, since if you had shown up in shape they would have been world champions again, and no, I’m not still bitter about that or anything. Happy 37th birthday to Rasheed Wallace!
