The Super Bowl XLVI illustration is part of a series of sport illustrations inspired by professional athletes for Maguire's MFA in Illustration Thesis project at the University of Hartford. Maguire's illustration of the Patriots Tom Brady as "War Machine" was featured as the cover illustration for Dig Boston Magazine's first issue of 2012. Since then the series has included Celtics power forward/warrior Kevin Garnett and Patriots Rob Gronkowski as The Incredible GRONK! There are more illustrations to come!
The complete series will be on exhibit at the Hartford Art School’s MFA in Illustration Art Show and Reception at Joseloff Gallery located on the Hartford University’s campus this summer. There will be multiple illustration thesis projects by the graduating class of 2012, including four local residents — Magge Gagliardi (CT) magzart.com, Ryan O'Rourke (CT) ryanorourke.com, and James Burke (NH) jimburkeillustration.com. Hartford Art School’s MFA in Illustration 2012 Gallery reception is on Friday, July 20, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.The event is free and open to the public.
