Gansett Running Hosting Run for Boston

The proceeds from this year's Nooseneck run will be donated Boston Marathon relief efforts.

All proceeds from this year’s Nooseneck 18k and 5k will be donated to relief efforts for the Boston Marathon bombings, according to organizers from the Narragansett Running Association.

The race starts at Nutz on Nooseneck – 809 Nooseneck Hill Road, West Greenwich. There is no formal entry fee, but the suggested donation is $20, with number pick-up at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 4. The race starts at 5 p.m.

The course goes through West Greenwich and Exeter, with an unmanned water station at mile five. The course is measured, and results are posted on CoolRunning.com.

There will be a post-race gathering at Nutz, with a 50/50 raffle and other fundraising efforts. For more information on the race, shoot an e-mail to Nooseneck18k@gmail.com.

Nooseneck was last held in December 2012. Matt Pelletier of Warwick and West Greenwich took the race with a time of 1:03:32, with North Kingstown’s Keven O’Neil in second at 1:05:52.

Wickford’s Kaela Gustafson was the top female finisher and ninth overall at 1:18:14. There were 75 runners taking place in the race.
