Cheerleading Wins Small Division, Places Fourth Overall at States

Coach Kristen Razza calls it the best performance of the year for her squad.

PROVIDENCE – The Narragansett cheerleading squad saved its best performance of the year for its final state competition, as they won the Small Division with a score of 166 on Saturday at the Providence Career and Technical Academy.

Coach Kristen Razza said it was the best performance her squad has had all year. The Mariners built on their success from a week ago, .

“The girls were great yesterday,” she said in an e-mail on Sunday. “It was the best performance they have given all year. We finished first in our division and with a score of 166 we were fourth in the state, only one point behind third place Tolman. I have never been more proud of a team that I've coached.”

The team has one final competition performance this year. On Saturday, they will again compete at the Providence Career and Technical Academy, but this time it’ll be for the New England Cheerleading Championship. An order of appearance has yet to be released.
