Troop 1 Takes Two-Day Trip Down Pawcatuck River

About 15 scouts and parents recently took a two-day trip down the Pawcatuck River.

Members of Troop 1 Narragansett enjoyed a two-day canoe trip down the Pawcatuck–Wood River the first weekend of May.

The boys were led by Senior Patrol Leader Will Prior and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader Alex Millen.  The party of 15 enjoyed the misty ride across Worden’s Pond and entered the Pawcatuck River alongside the Great Swamp on Saturday.

For the next eight hours, the boys and leaders traversed logs, several dams, raging rapids and powerful waterfalls.  The group enjoyed a dinner of fish, rice, fresh fruit salad and a quinoa salad.  A nightcap of smores and campfire popcorn ended a super day in nature near Wood River Junction.

On Sunday the group cooked some Johnny Cakes, home fries, cereal, fresh brewed coffee and juice.  They then trekked another three hours past Burlingame, and went on to take out at Bradford before heading home.
