Narragansett Kindergarten Registration Open Now!

The Narragansett School Department asks you to register your kid(s) for kindergarten on Friday, or during early May.

Kindergarten registrations for the Narragansett School District will be held Friday, April 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the main office of on Mumford Road.

If you can’t make the registrations on Friday, there will also be an opportunity to do so from May 7 to May 11, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. You can also register from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on May 8.

To be eligible for kindergarten, the child (or children, if you’re got an octomom situation going on) must be age 5 by September 1, 2012.

Please allow yourself 30 minutes to complete the registration process. You will need to bring:

  • The child’s birth certificate
  • Proof of residency (tax bill, mortgage payment, lease, utility bill)
  • Current immunization records and physical exam
  • Custody and guardianship arrangements

Kindergarten parent information night will be held in August, on a date to be announced. There will also be a parent-child orientation on the first day of school.

The RI Department of Education, along with the Narragansett School System recommend that ALL children ages 3, 4 and 5 screened annually.

Screening areas include speech/language, developmental skills, vision, hearing and social-emotional.

We want to ensure that ALL children are off to a good start before entering kindergarten.

For more information or to schedule a screening appointment, please call Narragansett Child Outreach at (401) 792-9430, ext. 3203.
