Narragansett High School Nurse Charged with Heroin Possession

Nurse placed on administrative leave after being found unconscious in her car with heroin and a crack pipe outside Rippy's Liquors and Marketplace earlier this month.

A nurse at Narragansett High School is on leave after being charged with heroin possession in Charlestown.

Charlestown Police reported Lynn A. Magnusen, 52, of 1244 Shannock Road, Charlestown, was found in her car at Rippy's Liquor and Marketplace on March 13 in possession of a crack pike and a pair of syringes. She was unconscious.

Police said they found a small bag of heroin she had hidden inside her body during a strip search at police headquarters.

Narragansett Superintendent Katherine Sipala told the Providence Journal that Magnusen was placed on administrative leave with pay on March 17.

Magnusen is due to appear in District Court on April 25 after entering no plea at an arraignment on March 15. She was released on personal recognizance.
