Local High School Student Nearly Tweets His Way Out of Final Exam

Patrick Limoges bet his math teacher that if he earned 50,000 retweets, he could skip his final exam in mathematics.

North Kingstown High School senior Patrick Limoges nearly tweeted his way out of his final exam in mathematics.

Limoges made a bet with his teacher that if he got 50,000 retweets, he wouldn't have to take the final exam. He got the 50,000 in about 10 hours, he told ABC6.com.

"I don't think anyone has ever thought of it before," Limoges told ABC6.

He said he and his teacher never thought reaching the 50,000-retweet mark was possible. Limoges agreed to actually take the exam, as the school administration would likely not approve the reprieve, according to ABC.

Limoges' bet sparked a trend across the country; there have been a host of students trying to copy his idea.
