Preach on, Matchbox 20. You're the man, Rob Thomas.

B-B-Q at the I-N-N. Tonight, Eddie’s BBQ will be serving dinner at from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Eddie’s is a food truck and catering service, and while I don’t normally put a lot of commercial activities in these Five Things, heck, it’s BBQ. Go get some. Plus, they’re based out of Narragansett, according to Eddie’s website.

“Fans never fall asleep at our games, because they’re afraid they might get hit by a pass.” – George Raveling, former USC basketball coach. Here are the sports results from yesterday, and today’s schedule:

  • Prout boys’ basketball (18-3, 15-1 Division III-South) hosts Middletown (14-5, 13-3 Division III-South) at 7 p.m. tonight. Junior varsity is at 5:15 p.m. The Crusaders will look to rebound (ha ha ha?) from their first Division III loss of the year, which came Tuesday at Exeter-West Greenwich (12-8, 12-5 Division III-South).
  • Narragansett High School has no sporting events scheduled for Thursday. (Sorry.)
  • Narragansett girls’ basketball easily beat West Warwick on Senior Night – For our full story, and video of the festivities, click .
  • According to The Providence Journal, Prout girls’ basketball (13-7, 9-6 Division II-South) beat Warwick Vets (3-19, 2-14 Division II-South) handily, 48-28. For a box score, click here. Maddie Hagerty led Prout with 16 points.

King Tut! On this day in 1923, British Egyptologist Howard Carter first laid eyes upon King Tut’s sarcophagus. I think he then immediately was cursed and turned into a skeleton, and then his bones melted, but I could be mixing that up with something else. Please celebrate this glorious day by performing the King Tut dance, as perfected by Steve Martin.

Happy birthday, Hasheem Thabeet! You truly are an awful NBA player, but hey, you’ll always have UConn. It’s just a shame you had to take a pay cut once you went to the NBA – ha ha ha! Just kidding. (I think.)
