5 THINGS: Halfway There!

You're almost to the weekend! Tough it out!

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Wednesday, December 12, 2012:

“I never did give them hell. I just told the truth, and they thought it was hell.” – Harry S. Truman. Here are today’s government meetings:

  • The Narragansett Planning Board meets at 6 p.m. at town hall.
  • There are no meetings scheduled for South Kingstown tonight. Use your free time to read about Marvel Comics.

Story time! There are stories for kids from ages 3 to 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Dale Library.

“Top shelf where momma hides the cookies!” Pickup hockey is available at the Ryan Center from noon to 2 p.m. For more info and rates, click here.

“I know very little about acting. I’m just an incredibly gifted faker.” – Robert Downey Jr. The Contemporary Theater Company hosts acting lessons at 5 p.m. The cost is $10, and they do take place every Wednesday, in case you can’t make this one session.

“Can I graduate?” – Third Eye Blind. If you’re a South Kingstown student, parent or just an interested resident, well, there is a presentation about the graduation requirements at 7 p.m. at the administration building. For more info, click here.

Oh no! Maybe there seriously aren’t that many events today, given that it’s Constitution Day in Russia. As a result, our events calendar for today is a bit barren. If you’re having an event, please let us know in the comments. Also, make sure it isn’t left out in the future – Submit it via this link (as long as you’re logged into your Patch account).

Give the gift of food this holiday season. Children’s Dentistry of Wakefield is having a food drive from now until Dec. 19. For more info, click here.

Sign up for our daily newsletter! Hey, I realize we have a lot of neat features and knick-knacks on the site, so it can be confusing to keep up with it all. Want just one simple, easy to read daily digest? Sign up for our e-mail newsletter here then. It comes out between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. roughly, every single day of the week. Amazing, I know!

A street fightin’ man! On this day in 2003, Mick Jagger was knighted.

Drew Carey wishes he was half the host you are. Happy 89th birthday to Bob Barker! I’m glad he’s still around, although your pet might feel differently. (I imagine he’s not viewed as positively by them.)
