5 THINGS: Boys' Lacrosse Makes Finals, And Other Events

The Narragansett boys' lacrosse team will play at Rhode Island College on Sunday, and looking at the rest of the playoff landscape.

Here are the (more than) Five Things for Thursday, May 31, 2012:

Narragansett lacrosse is championship bound. In the Division III boys’ lacrosse playoffs, No. 2 Narragansett defeated Toll Gate 6-3. For more, read a story from The Providence Journal here. The Mariners will face their nemesis of the past two years, Smithfield, who eliminated Narragansett from the playoffs last year and won a regular season matchup this year. Smithfield beat Coventry 13-7 to advance to the finals. The championship game is 3 p.m. Sunday at Rhode Island College.

  • In the Division II boys’ lacrosse playoffs, No. 2 South Kingstown hosts No. 7 Mount Saint Charles at 6 p.m. today. If South Kingstown wins, they will advance to the Division II championship game 5 p.m. Sunday at Rhode Island College.
  • The Division II softball playoffs begin for Prout and South Kingstown today. No. 4 Prout hosts No. 13 St. Ray’s at 4 p.m. No. 15 South Kingstown travels to No. 2 Tolman for a 4:30 p.m. game.
  • In the Division II baseball playoffs, No. 2 Prout beat No. 15 Burrillville 6-2. Prout hosts No. 7 Exeter-West Greenwich today at the University of Rhode Island.   • In the Division I baseball playoffs, No. 4 South Kingstown beat No. 13 Warwick Vets 3-2 on Tuesday evening. The Rebels host No. 5 La Salle, who beat No. 12 Pilgrim 3-0, at 4 p.m. today.
  • Unfortunately, in the Division II girls’ lacrosse playoffs, the No. 2 seeded Narragansett Mariners were upset by Tiverton, 17-12. For more, read a story from The Providence Journal here.
  • In Division II baseball, No. 5 Narragansett beat No. 12 Juanita Sanchez 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon. The Mariners play at No. 4 Woonsocket at 4 p.m. Friday. SRIN Sports has posted pictures of Wednesday’s game on its Facebook page.

No vampires allowed. The Rhode Island Blood Center is hosting at on Tower Hill Road in Wakefield at 11 a.m. (This would also be a convenient time to check out the Rotary Club of Wakefield, by the way, which at 12:15 p.m. at Liliana’s.)
