Storm Forecast Leads to Cancellations

The indoor track and basketball events scheduled for South Kingstown High School are canceled, thanks to a forecasted mid-afternoon snowstorm.

A forecasted afternoon storm that has led to a winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service has now resulted in the cancellation of scheduled South Kingstown sports for Monday.

According to a message on the South Kingstown High School listserv and the RIIL, all of the indoor meets scheduled for tonight at the Providence Career and Technical Academy will be rescheduled. This will also affect the timing for the boys’ freshmen state championship, which will also be rescheduled.

The other South Kingstown sporting events – a game between the boys’ basketball team and Mt. Pleasant, and boys’ and girls’ swim meets – have also been postponed. A make-up date has not yet been announced for the basketball game, but the swim meets are scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 29.
