Senator James C. Sheehan (North Kingstown and Narragansett) was notified this morning [Wednesday] that one of his brand new billboard signs had been destroyed by an act of vandalism some time during the night of August 21.
The 4'x 4' color billboard sign, located on a highly visible and travelled area of Post Road in North Kingstown, had only been standing for about a week when it was vandalized.
After inspecting the damage and taking photos, Sheehan filed a police report with the North Kingstown Police Department.
Sheehan said, "Vandalism is a rare occurrence. But, when it does occur, it is very frustrating, especially with a new and relatively expensive sign. More importantly, I believe that elections should be free and fair. Irrespective of who perpetrated this act or why, this kind of vandalism sadly limits a candidate's ability to garner fair consideration by voters."
